Our Story

In 2003 Kathy Haley moved to Anza, California in hope of providing sanctuary for large abused and neglected animals such as donkeys, llamas, alpacas, pigs, and many more. At the time, she was also volunteering for a dog rescue and after learning about the importance of rescue work, Kathy saw an opportunity to help by employing her own ideas about animal welfare, rescue and care taking the whole animal mind, body and spirit into consideration. A few years later, she met Lisa Ashe. Kathy and Lisa had so many ideas, dreams, and goals in common. They instantly clicked and that was when

"Hope Ranch Animal Sanctuary",

a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, was born in 2011

and have been going strong since.

Lisa passed away in 2017 from Cancer but to this day, is still a major inspiration to Hope Ranch and always a part of our team and family. She helped saved countless lives.

At Hope Ranch Animal Sanctuary, we are dedicated to taking in abused, neglected, and euthanasia listed animals that deserve a second chance and need us the most.

Our Mission

  1. To educate our communities and instill the importance of spay/neuter; assisting in helping to achieve this where we can.

  2. To aid local shelters by helping reduce the amounts of adoptable pets who are in danger of euthanization.

  3. To rehabilitate animals who have suffered. give the downtrodden a second chance, and love the unloved.

  4. To work with like minded rescues to achieve all of the above.

All of our animals receive the following vet care:

  • Spayed/Neutered

  • Current on all vaccines

  • Rabies Vaccinated

  • Dewormed

  • Micro-chipped (lifetime registered & paid)

  • All individual-appropriate medical care when needed (surgeries, dentals, medications, grooming, etc)

While many of our animals are sanctuary or "permanent residents", we do have lots of adoptable pets who are patiently waiting for their forever homes.

We are unique in the fact that our dogs do not live in kennels; instead they live with us, inside our home, and have full access to our 5 acres of property located in Anza, CA OR they are living with compassionate foster families located in Temecula, Murrieta, and neighboring cities. They have full access to our home and property and sleep inside with us at night. This ensures that our pets are well adjusted and perfectly suited to become a part of your family.

Because the sanctuary is also our home, we do not have regular public visiting hours but we do have many visitors. We just have to arrange it to fit the schedule of our animals, ourselves, and you.
